Ang Pow Box

Many of the modern chinese wedding nowadays will definitely have a proper box for guests to deposit their angbows for the wedding couple during the reception.
Most of them are normal paper boxes with nice wrapping paper, some adorned with cute teddy bears, or some kind of small cute cuddlies.

Just that teddies are really not M and my kind of style, so we decided that we wanted something vintage, preferably a metal tin of sorts. And we can customise it to fit our candy theme as well.

We found our tins at the least expected place, at M's ah mah's old provision shop.

It is such an old provision shop, even the cashier is the old antique Milo Tin on a pulley system.
Unfortunately, we lose a good part of the photos here, can't post it here.

M's dad and ah mah informing the relatives and friends of our wedding.
M trying to look like he is helping.

I couldn't resist exploring the whole place.
The kitchen behind is still functional, with the charcoal stove!

We emerged with 2 victory finds!
Lipton Tea squarish tins! Perfect for us!

Actually we had a photolog of the whole process of us doing up the tins, but we lost it.
But here's the final product~
In short, we sprayed the tins, designed the vintage chocolate labels from Hersheys and printed it out and stuck them on the tin.
The little accessories on the tins are just some stuff we found while shopping and decided to add them on.

So tadaa~ Here they are!

The Golden Happiness

Yay guess what???? I received a surprise email from Eyvon today about their shop updating the floral design layout for their money cages they are renting out just when I have already LOOOOONNNNNNG forgotten that I requested for the pics of the money cage decorated in pink glitter rose.

If you have read my prev posts before, you should know that I rented their "My love goes round and round" for 15 bucks which i thought was a steal esp when the cage is decorated nicely for you =) plus love the unique circular shape too!!

Usually to me for such rental price, ahem not that i m stereotype, but hello when the rental is not those astronomical ones (plus i admit i rented the cheapest one among the lot), I dont really expect they will give much of a hoot about my incessant requests for pics or even cater much to the floral design details since most likely a whole lot of pple will be queueing to rent the cages from them (becos they just simply offer so many varieties).

At this point of time,I think I am freaking Lucky when it comes to wedding.
1) it didn't rain during my rom despite it is the monsoon season (it be disastrous for outdoor wedding i swear)
2) the fruit punch syrup was just nice on sale when i need to buy a bulk of it
3) the wonderful christina came back to mandai orchid garden to be my coordinator just when it is my wedding soon (and now she has already left)
4) i have great friends like hong(deco), qi(time schedule and music),xuan(special pink choc fondue), marvin (with the floral knowledge lol) and hongxian for helping us to take so many pics and even took a day's leave just to process and even help us print the photos omg too good liao!!!!) to help me out wif the rom stuff
5) i randomly surf up and discover a special dinner banquet area like grand shanghai SUPER DUPER last minute(about 15 mins before) before i went to si chuan dou hua restaurant for confirmation
6) had great sis in law like ah li who is pro and helpful with designing cards etc
7) AND NOW?

So to be fair I really wanna praise Eyvon for being really thoughtful(and most importantly, her CRAZY SUPER HUMAN memory to remember about my request) to update me with the new designs since our email dealings since April. anyway if btbs dont like the usual standard box like me and find it a hassle to make one. i think you can check out their webby
http://www.goldenhappiness.com.sg/Money%20Box%20Final.shtml
on the various cages on rental (cos they offer many type of themes) so dont ask me where i get the lobang from ar =P

anyway here's a memory recollection of how the floral deco looks like back then during April (i am surprise that i actually still kept the pics in my pic folder, yep i m that lazy=P)
.
Some golden floral accesories with a few nice pink roses amidst a green moss nest.

Oh my god, i think I must have magical telepathy with all the pple i met so far who is providing me with their wedding services.

you know, I thought I was just a Princess,
Now i suspect i am a fairy!

well you can ignore

my new indulgence but meet

Woo a crazy cool moneybox

I would like to say big thank you to the BTBs who have been reading the blog esp when it comes to valuable suggestions. I notice that weeks ago, Danice(which I suppose it a BTB) posted an url on my tagboard and voila, after pening up the page I fell in love with the suggestions she has offered me.

I have already email in to enquire about the rental of the following bird cage as the ang paos box. Even though I understand that the capacity of this cage is low, but the main purpose of it is definitely for squeezing the approx 200 angpaos (since we are expecting 250 guests) but mainly for photography purpose on the AD itself. You will really want to provide the AD photographer with some little details and things to take pics of right?

Here are the gorgeous pics of the cage that I have fell in love with. Pictures are extracted from the company's webby and the cage that I love is call "My Love Goes Round and Round"

It even has silk pink or red roses +some bling bling(depending on the theme that you want) to decorate and enhance the cage. But somehow I din like the colour of the dry grass at the bottom, it looks kinda of restless. For me I might consider replacing the green colour grass with some other colour which helps to enhance the colour of the silk roses.

Well if you like, I suggest we can put our own ornament in if the couple have their own mascot or symbol of love that they want to share with the guests.

I'm drooling from the idea of the bird cage rental which is 15 bucks! I must have it! I wish the cage comes in black though=) but then never mind it is already perfect for the wedding. Then maybe you guys will be pondering how about the rest of the angpaos then? Don't worry Grand Shanghai has a big Glass container that looks like for containing biscuits in the olden days. They usually offers the couples to use it as their ang pao box during the dinner =)
Anyway I'm now looking for cd albums to fit in with the Shanghai theme. Even though Grand Shanghai has their own cds, I prefer to comile the musics myself as I feel that it is really important for setting the tone for how I would like to bring out the Shanghai feel to my guests. I don't like the straight oldies as I want it to sound naughty and fun too!
Read up from the bridal forum there is this album call "Shanghai Jazz" but when I went down to Hereens, it has been sold out! Love the songs from the album after listening to the demos online. I shall continue on with my search to give the best for the guests in terms of audio!
Here is the link for you to download their demos from the official website. http://www.shjazz.com/downloads.html
Looks like I will need to rope in Qi for her precious help on the compilation of musics soon =) Cant tell you how much she has done a great job with the music selection for my rom!
